SAU office hours will be 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30am
- 1:00pm on Fridays. These times will be in effect from June 23 - August 18,
2008.
A new online lunch payment website will be available to parents for Lincoln
& Main Street Schools, the Cooperative Middle School, Exeter High School,
and Tuck Learning Campus.

ERCSD has developed a
Chemical
Hygiene Plan (pdf) that is a written program developed and implemented
by the school district which explains the policies and procedures that
promote safe work practices in the laboratory and the safe operation of our
school laboratories.

The SAU 16 Joint Board nominated Laura Nelson as the new Assistant
Superintendent of Technology Monday night. Since 2004 she has served as Asst
Supt. for the Kearsarge Regional School Dist. in New London. She has also
served as a middle school principal, assistant principal, and math teacher
with the Hooksett School District. Laura holds a Master of Education in
Administration and Supervision, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study,
and a JD. She is scheduled to join SAU 16 on July 1.
Amy Gentile, third grade teacher at Brentwood's Swasey Central School,
accepted a parent's donation of an OLPC XO (One Laptop Per Child) Computer

The Cooperative Middle School has been named the 2008 NH "Middle School Of
The Year" out of all middle schools in the state of New Hampshire. Friday,
in a school-wide assembly, the NH "Ed"ies committee in sponsorship with
McDonald's bestowed the "NH Excellence in Education Award" upon CMS.

Science teachers Angela Lennox and Heather-Senseney Mellor took the AP and Biology 2 classes to City Lab
at Boston University on April 25, 2008 where they collected their own DNA,
ran PCR to amplify the DNA and then ran a gel to check and see if they had a
particular region on their chromosome 16.
Exeter Hospital's Health & Wellness Lecture Series on Tuesday May 13th
7:00pm. Nationally acclaimed speaker, educator, author and humorist Steve
Sobel will provide positive communication and conflict resolution

Stephen Adler has been selected as the next principal for MSS. He is
currently a principal with the Lexington, MA school system and previously
served as a principal in ME and NH. He starts with Exeter on July 1st.
The Class of 2008’s Project Prom/ Project Graduation Committee has been hard
at work preparing for two chemical-free nights of fun, food and
entertainment for their graduating sons and daughters. They are in the final
weeks of planning and organizing to bring these two events, which are not
covered by class dues, to completion. The Committee’s newest projects
include the “Mr. EHS Competition” which will be held in the EHS auditorium
on May 8 and the sale of Toegoz sandals that have “Exeter” printed on the
strap. Requests for chaperones and raffle prizes for the events will be sent
home next month in the senior packet. Monetary donations are still being

The last day of school for students for all SAU 16 schools will be Thursday
June 19th.
The Exeter Board is meeting Tuesday evening, April 22, 2008 at 6:30pm to
conduct final interviews of the three finalists for principal of MSS. The
meeting will be held in the MSS Library.

LSS is performing the Jungle Book on Wednesday April 23rd and Thursday April
24th at 6:30pm.
Friday, April 11, 7:30 PM at Exeter High School Auditorium. This is a
benefit for the Junior Prom/Class of 2009. $10 at the door or call 686-2907
for advanced tickets ($8). Dr. Steve Taubman, Master of Misperception, will
perform. The show is hilarious! Appropriate for middle school
ages and up. Bring the family and support the class of 2009!
The EHS Guidance Department will sponsor “College Night for Juniors” on
Thursday, April 10th beginning at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium. This evening is
designed for parents of students in the 11th grade. Angela Nuzzi, a
representative from the New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation
NHHEAF will present an
overview of the college search process.
The MSS Principal Search Committee invites MSS parents, teachers, and staff
to a public forum to meet the finalists for principal.

Saturday March 22, 2008 at 7pm in the EHS Auditorium.
Tuesday, March 4, 2008 the email server was down but it's now back up.
The SAT tests that were scheduled for Saturday March 1st at EHS have been
canceled due to the inclement weather expected. Please contact the College
Board website for rescheduling information.
We were having difficulties with several internet access issues including
website access, email and Moodle. The problems have been resolved. Sorry for
any inconvenience.

Exeter High School will sponsor an informational program for parents of 8th
grade students and parents of students who have never attended EHS regarding
registration for courses for the 2008-2009 school year. The program will be
held on Wednesday evening, March 5th from 7:00-9:00 PM in the EHS
Auditorium. Snow date will be Thursday, March 6th. The program will be an
overview of the registration course scheduling process for EHS. Learning
Area Advisors will present information regarding course offerings and
curriculum. All parents are welcome.
Parent Advisory Group Meeting Wednesday February 20, 2008. This months
meeting will discuss the results of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey that all
EHS students took last year. The meeting starts at 7 pm in the Roy
Morissette Room.
The presentation at EHS was attended by over 100 people. For those that

mentors trained on Saturday and are working to develop additional
presentations for our schools.

The rapid communication system used by all SAU 16 schools has provided a

Given the weather forecast for this afternoon/evening, all K-8 after school
activities and practices are canceled today. At EHS, all activities, games,
etc. after 5:15 PM are canceled. EHS after school practices will be varsity
ONLY.

The Health Sciences & Technologies Program at the Seacoast School of
Technology is hosting an Open House on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, from
4:00-7:00 p.m. The program recently moved into its newly renovated space and
would like to show off the wonderful new classroom and laboratory space with
members of the community, professional colleagues, parents and friends.
Due to impending weather, all SAU 16 afternoon Kindergarten sessions have been
cancelled. EHS has canceled Friday detention and the late bus for today.

The SAU 16 Joint Board is pleased to announce that Michael Morgan, currently
Superintendent of Schools in Barrington NH, has agreed to serve as our next
Superintendent. Mike will officially assume the position on July 1, 2008.
The Cooperative Middle School has implemented a makeover of their website. A
team of a dozen teachers, staff and technical resources worked for the past
year to decide on a new look and system that will be easier to keep everyone
informed.
Project Prom/Project Graduation is holding an Electronics Recycling Fundraiser
at the Exeter Town Hall on Saturday, January 26th 8:30am-1:30pm. The cost to
recycle ranges from $5.00 for a keyboard/mouse to $15.00 for a computer
monitor or TV. Please clean out your basement, attic, or garage. Bring your
old DVD players, VCRs, hard drives, CPUs, etc and help support Project
Prom/Project Graduation. It's tax-deductible and we'll even help you unload
your stuff!
The middle school drama club is rehearsing for their upcoming production on
March 13th at 7:00pm, March 14th at 7:00pm, and March 15th at 1:00pm. All
performances are in the Meehan Auditorium at CMS.
Enrollment for the new semester continues through January for: GED
Preparation, Adult Basic Education, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL),
& Adult High School Diploma programs. The Enrichment Program offerings include

Parents Beware! The administration at Exeter High has been notified that
someone is making calls to students' homes trying to sell study CD's for SAT
preparation. They are calling during the day and requesting credit card
information. Exeter High School is not sponsoring nor endorsing any such sale.
Be careful as this may be a scam.
The public will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of the four
finalists for the SAU 16
Superintendent position on Monday January 7th at EHS from 6-9pm.
Due to the weather forecast for Thursday, the GBeCS Trustees meeting that was
scheduled for 4:30pm has been cancelled.
All after-school activities have been cancelled for Thursday December 13th,
2007 in light of the impending storm.
The EHS Guidance department has information to share about financial aid
forms, SAT registration, PSAT scores and an Air Force Academy/ROTC information

Car crashes are the leading cause of death among our nation's teenagers, and
New Hampshire is no stranger to this trend. Parents often feel helpless
considering their student's driving - you raise your teen responsibly, you
send them to Driver Ed, they practice with you as much as possible - and
still, accidents happen. On December 4th. at 7:00 PM, representatives from
Stevens Advanced Driver Training will visit EHS to present a vital step in
helping to keep your teen crash free: Skid School. Come hear about the only
program in New Hampshire designed to give your teen the real-life, hands-on
training they need to help avoid crashes, and the attitude it takes to make

Exeter Adult Education's
Program Director, Leslie Haslam, is NH Co-Chair of
VERA, Voter
Education, Registration, and Action, a non-partisan effort aimed at adult
learners to educate then about voting and the topical electoral issues, and
mobilize them to vote. Every class covers voting and registration procedures
and current election issues and every Adult Ed. student is strongly encouraged
to have a voice in the election process.
Attention Seniors! If you had the guidance department send your college
transcripts for November 1 deadlines and now would like 1st quarter grades to
be sent you need to notify Mrs. Murphy in Guidance. You will need to fill out
a form for each request as well.
On November 15, 2007 the Guidance Department will sponsor a Financial Aid
Night Seminar at 6:30 PM in the Auditorium of Exeter High School. At that time
Michael Spillane, Financial Aid Officer from the UNH will speak about the
Financial Aid Process. He will cover how to complete the FAFSA and what
information to expect on the Student Aid Report that is returned to you.
Information on how to obtain the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student
Aid, will be available in the Guidance Office for seniors applying for
financial aid for college prior to the Christmas break. The FAFSA cannot be
filed until after January 1, 2008. Students and parents can also submit their
application via the internet by accessing the
FAFSA website. Please join us for this
very informative program.
After discussion with the Exeter Police and Fire Departments, who have been in
contact with the State Health Officer, it has been determined that the threat
of Triple E virus is diminished more in the evening than in the late
afternoon. With this information, it is their opinion that it is safe to
resume outside evening athletic activities at Exeter High School. Please

The drama club will perform Jack and the Beanstalk Sunday, October 14th at
1:00pm in the EHS Auditorium. Free admission.

Exeter High School will have a modified schedule Oct. 10, 11 and 12 to
accomodate Grade 11 NECAP testing. Grade 11 students will follow their
regular-day morning bus schedule. Students in grades 9, 10 and 12 will arrive
at 9:40am for a Delayed Opening Schedule.

The Coop. Middle School is holding open houses this week by grade.
Tuesday night, Sept. 25th, from 6-7:30 for parents of 6th graders; Wednesday
night, Sept. 26th, from 6-7:30 for parents of 7th graders and Thursday night,
Sept. 27th, from 6-7:30 for parents of 8th graders.
The NH Healthy Schools Coalition, the state affiliate of Action for Healthy
Kids, will hold their Annual meeting on October 5th at
EHS from 9am-2pm. The NH SNAKS program will be launched and the student creators from
GBeCS will be recognized. You can help
identify food items that you would like to see available in schools throughout
NH. Cooking classes can also be observed. There is no cost to attend, and you

The Tuck Learning Campus facility will be open from 5:30 to 6:45 Monday
September 17, 2007 for anyone interested in visiting the updated facilities for many

The first meeting of the PAG will be Wednesday, September 19, at 7:00 PM in

feature Coach Bill Ball who will be discussing Athletics and Policies. There

Thursday, Sept. 13th at 6:30pm in the auditorium. The program will focus on
the college search process featuring guest speaker Mr. Jay Hauser from

Due to the recent incident of a Newfield’s student, who is a member of the
Cooperative Middle School, contracting the EEE virus, SAU 16 is issuing a

precautions that are in place in all of the SAU 16 Schools.

transportation for Exeter High School Freshman Orientation (9th grade students
only) on the morning of Tuesday August 28, 2007. Students will return home by
