1. Reviewed Officers of club and contact list of members – phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Discussed membership dues and decided to wait and ask for donations at fund-raising events.
2. Summary of last month’s meeting. Jennifer Ramsay will write a “mission statement” which will provide a description and purpose of the group to be used in advertising, on posters, and other communications about the group. Group confirmed decision to move forward on fund-raising for shells for stage.
3. Reviewed the Music Department’s general support requests:
a. Concerts – refreshements, supervision, setup, etc. Sign up sheets done last meeting – still a few holes to be filled.
b. NYC Field Trip – March 2003 Wind Ensemble – Jennifer Ramsay will check with Dept. staff to see what assistance is requested.
c. Incoming 6th grade setup day – organization help requested. June date so planning will start in spring.
d. Summer Music Camp for 6th graders – organization help requested. June date so planning will start in spring.
4. Fund Raising reviewed and discussed:
a. Holiday Wreaths – decided not to pursue because of Boy Scout activities in Stratham
b. Pie Sales – getting too late for Thanksgiving so more research is being done in hopes of putting together something for Christmas.
c. Gift wrapping and Yankee Candles – spring sign-up for following Fall so both are possibilities for next year
d. Sam’s cook-out – January sign-up for weekend/day – hoping for mid-May date. Single day preferable to both days of weekend, but we’ll get what we can. Phil Dean will call and make arrangements with Sam’s Club.
e. Cashola – Helen Friedman spoke with several local restaurants and Burger King is willing to set a date with a two-hour time slot. Receipts must go in a separate bucket to get credit. It was decided that several adults and children encouraging donations would be necessary, but not too many!
f. Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits – Sue Engle will call and see if we can get it setup for orders to be taken in early January and delivery in time for Super Bowl Sunday.
g. A Longaburger basket was donated by Chris Magnusson so it was decided that we would raffle it off at the holiday concerts.
h. Refreshments at concerts – it was decided that we would purchase soda and water at a warehouse club and request baked-good donations by parents and setup a table at each holiday concert. Discussion was given to timing (before concert, intermission, after concert) and location (Entry foyer, cafeteria, keeping food out of auditorium).
5. Next Month’s meeting is Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 7 pm in CMS Music room. We’re hoping to hold meetings on the third Wednesday of the month. It was a stormy, rainy night and we thank those who braved the weather to attend and hope to see and hear from all CMS music supporters in the coming months.
