The meeting began at 6:30.
In attendance at the meeting were: Eric Kobb, Susan Sarosiek, Susan Dodge, Audrey Dean, Cyndi McCleary and Viciki Marbacher.
Minutes from the November 19th meeting were accepted without changes.
Treasurer’s Report: Current Balance: $4032.41
The Band bake sale brought in $173.09 and the Chorus bake sale brought in $187.01. A check needs to be made out to David Phinney for $80.00 to cover music lessons.
Commemorative Sales: Approximately 30 commemoratives have been sold at this point. Sales are slower than expected. Ideas about how to possibly increase sales and awareness of the commemorative were discussed including:
-Running an advertisement in the Exeter Newsletter - the cost of the ad would be $123.00 for a Friday ad, $84.00 for a Tuesday ad.
-Displaying at SMS & placing a notice in the staff daily announcement. Send home a notice to the whole school or at least band and chorus students.
-Have a notice about the commemorative put into the school e-mail newsletter.
-Display at area businesses such as Sweet Annie’s, Screamer’s, Valarieo’s and the Wiggin Memorial Library in Stratham.
-Contact Kathleen Bailey about running an article in the Exeter Newsletter.
-Offer Commemorative for sale during upcoming High School Holiday performance and Portsmouth School of Ballet Nutcracker performances both being held in the CMS auditorium.
-In the future have the Commemorative on sale during Evening With The Arts performances.
It was decided that the cost of running an ad was too high but Cyndi McCleary would contact Kathleen Bailey about running something in the newspaper explaining the sale and the goal of raising money for the shells. Members would bring the commemorative to the area business listed above for display as well as to SMS to encourage sales and exposure. Susan Dodge would see if we could display at the upcoming high school & Nutcracker performances. A notice would be put into the e-mail newsletter and a display put in the school front lobby display case.
Hopefully these efforts will help to boost sales, as this upcoming week is the perfect time for someone to be purchasing it as a holiday gift item.
Pizza Sale: The flyers for the pizza sale are in. Delivery date of the pizza will be on January 25th. A half-sheet handout needs to be made up and attached to the flyers explaining the sale to the kids and parents. Eric will check with Jennifer and see if she has a copy of last year’s handout. Sue Sarosick will put that together and have Eric proof it by Friday. Eric will have some band students staple it together before the Christmas break. Flyers will be handed out when we get back to school. Order forms need to be returned by January 14th. Orders need to be compiled and placed by January 20th.
CD Production: Eric is still working on this.
Restaurant Social Event: It was decided to table this until after the Christmas break.
Letter Writing Campaign: This would be the letter to local business to ask for support of the Music Boosters and our effort to raise money for the shells. It was decided that we should hold off on this for now as there if a concern that we are asking for financial support too many times at this point.
Music Fun Night: This event is scheduled for January 20th. This will be a Spaghetti Dinner and donations will be taken but not per person cost will be charged. The time for the event is from 5:30 – 8:00 and a faculty concert will take place after the dinner along with two rounds of musical chairs. The fundraiser portion of the event will be the musical chairs where in order to participate a chair needs to be purchased. But a chair and play!! Eric will see if we can use the home economics kitchens for the spaghetti cooking.
New Business: None
Meeting adjourned at 7:40.
Next meeting: January 11th at 6:30
