6:30 Meeting called to order

Minutes accepted from April 11, 2006 meeting.

Treasurer's report given by Julia, and accepted. Current balance of $3,426.95

New Business:

Next year's officers - A short discussion concerning next year's Music Booster officers: Julia will not be at CMS, so we will need a new treasurer, also possibly an additional co-president. It would be great to get a few sixth grade parents involved!

Insurance Discussion:

Eric presented an in-depth document discussing what programs would be covered by the insurance, should we decide to purchase , the process that would be followed from the decision to obtain the insurance through becoming a non-profit organization, to presenting a yearly report to the state. An example of the by-laws used by another music booster organization was also included.

There was a discussion concerning which activities would be covered by the insurance and which insurance (liability, w/o the sexual harassment clause) should be purchased. Concerns that were discussed involved; the availability and importance of individual instrumental lessons (given at CMS) and the use of music booster fund-raising paying for the liability insurance. One idea discussed was that perhaps the families that take advantage of the instrumental lessons could pay a registration fee that could be used toward the price of the insurance.

A vote was eventually taken to decide whether to obtain the insurance. It was decided by a vote of 4 to 1 to start the process of buying the liability insurance with the sexual harassment clause. The total cost would be $1173.00 per year.

Eric would start the process, starting with a meeting with the administration, the maintenance staff, music teachers, and the business planner, as the Summer Music Camp information needs to go out to parents.

Summer Band Camp: Dates; June 20-22. Some help will be needed for the BBQ at 3:30 on the 22nd.

Next meeting: JUNE 13 (Tuesday) at 6:30 in the Band room.
