Question 1 - What do you like about this school?
Topic 1 - Administration
Curriculum (7) One of the things that I like most about this school is that if a child doesn't learn the same way as most, they are helped and taught different strategies to come up with the same conclusions. The one on one aides are great with the special ed students.
In my experience with the third and fourth grade teams, I feel that learning has been made very fun and interactive.
Level (2) Every student is given an opportunity to learn at his or her level of achievement
Resources (7) Many great resources and materials are available to use with the students.
Topic 2 - Administration
  Supportive (9) Supportive administration
Topic 3 - Community / Parents
Volunteer (2) I enjoy the amount of parent involvement and the level of materials we have to use for instruction.
The parent involvement in PTO and volunteering
Topic 4 - School
  Environment (7) Pleasant working environment
PTO (1) The PTO support/spirit and enrichment
Size (1) I appreciate the small class size and heterogeneous grouping.
Technology (2) Technology available and technology support available
Topic 5 - Staff
Friendly/Supportive The friendliness of most of the employees
I like the professionalism, support and friendliness of all staff members. Classrooms are warm, inviting and stimulating. Workshops are well prepared and informative. There is a real sense of community where each child's welfare is the concern of all.
Topic 6 - Students
Students (4) Student are perfect and fabulous

Question 2 - What do you wish was different at this school?
Topic 1 - Academic
Curriculum (4) I wish teachers had more of a say in the curriculum that is taught.
I would like to see a curriculum developed for the bright and gifted population
Less worksheets and more authentic instruction.
Flexibility (1) I wish there was a little more flexibility in the materials purchased especially around reading.
Testing (3) Not as much time spent on testing
Topic 2 - Administration
Principal Administrators not to buckle or fold in the face of a parental threat. BE STRONG! Tell parents "this is how we do it here".
I wish that we would get more positive reinforcement and compliments when we do our jobs well.
Topic 3 - School
Facility (8) I wish the floors could be kept cleaner and not wax over dirt.
I wish the physical plant was in better shape. Heating/cooling issues often make the learning environment uncomfortable and unhealthy.
The teachers' rooms is not inviting. It is too small and doesn't have privacy. There are very few opportunities to interact with staff at other grade levels.
Field Trip (1) I would like to see a reduced cost of buses for field trips
Playground Aides (2) I wish a couple of the recess aides could be less snappy and better benefits to others.
Topic 4 - Staff
Involvement (2) More staff involvement (moral, commitment)
Workshop (1) Staff development workshops to benefit specialist as well
Topic 5 - Students
Behavior (3) Stated consequences for stated behaviors
Students should be expected to show respect toward adults and others
  Enrollment (1) Lower enrollment
Topic 6 - Teacher
Aides (3) I wish that paraprofessionals were either invited to or able to give input to IEP/SPED meetings. We are the ones who are responsible for facilitating the educational and behavioral plans on a daily basis and also the ones who really get to know the child. I would feel more appreciated and valued if my ideas/suggestions were represented.
Students should be expected to show respect toward adults and others
I wish that some (not all) teachers who want a paraprofessional to be responsible for any classroom duties like walking a class to a special or covering a class for a short time should teach the students that they need to have the same respect for the para as they do the teacher. Kids should have the same respect for all adults in the building and are very aware of the differences in the roles if the teacher does not make this apparent.
Communication (14) Better communication with all teachers
  Salary (3) Too low
Time (4) I wish we had more time (scheduled) to meet about students, especially Special Ed.
