Administration Present: Jerry Frew, Assistant Superintendent; Joan Ostrowski, Principal; Nathan Lunney, Chief Financial Officer
Others Present:
1. Chair Chesno called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Everyone joined in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Non-public session
The Board did not enter into non-public session during this meeting.
3. Budget
Chief Financial Office Lunney reviewed the memo from Mr. Murdough, the New Hampshire
Bureau of School Approval & Facility Management Administrator, regarding updated information received regarding Kindergarten Aid that Brentwood accepted from the state during the building renovation and construction project. It appears that, without a special waiver from the Commissioner of Education, the District would need to return all Kindergarten Aid received if kindergarten were discontinued at this time. This conveys a different understanding than that previously held by the administration and Board.
The Board discussed the presentation that would be made to the Budget Committee and their recommendation for the 2007-2008 School Budget. The Board agreed that the 6.6% budget was still the budget endorsed by the Board. The 5.1% budget discussed at the January 25th Board meeting would be provided to the Budget Committee only if the School Board was asked to present them with an alternative. Because the 5.1% budget required cutting more teachers and making further reductions in services that support teachers, it would not be a budge endorsed by the Board.
4. Public Comment
None offered.
5. Adjournment
MOTION – Board Member Hannan moved to adjourn the Brentwood School Board Meeting at 6:58 p.m.; Board Member Faria seconded. Vote - Unanimous
