BRENTWOOD SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, May 29, 2007, 4:45 p.m.
Swasey Central School
Members Present: Virginia Knutson, Vice-Chair; Elizabeth Faria; and, Tim Hannan
Administration Present: Jerry Frew, Assistant Superintendent; Joan Ostrowski, Principal;
Others Present: Janet Hart
1. Vice-Chair Knutson called the meeting to order at 4:46 p.m.
Everyone joined in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Vice-Chair Knutson stated that Chair Chesno had notified her earlier in the day that she would be unable to attend due to an unanticipated conflict. Board Member Whitmarsh had extended his apologies earlier.
2. Nomination for Assistant Principal at Swasey Central School
Vice –Chair Knutson turned the meeting over to Assistant Superintendent Frew.
Mr. Frew noted that an Advisory Committee with representation including Swasey staff, the School Board, and a community member met with the two finalists for the position. As a result of the search process, he explained that he was prepared to bring Janet Hart forth for nomination to the position of assistant principal for the 2007-2008 school year. Assistant Superintendent Frew reviewed Mrs Hart’s experience and credentials for the Board. Mrs. Hart had the opportunity to provide additional insight as to her interest in the position. Assistant Frew provided the details to the Board of the one-year contract that would be offered to Mrs. Hart.
MOTION – Board Member Faria moved that the Brentwood School Board accept the nomination of Janet Hart as Swasey Central School Assistant Principal for the 2007-2008 school year; Board Member Hannan seconded. Vote - Unanimous.
Vice-Chair Knutson invited Mrs. Hart to attend the June 11, 2007 Board meeting to meet the remaining Board members.
3. Adjournment
MOTION – Board Member Hannan moved that the Brentwood School Board Meeting adjourn at 4:59 p.m.; Board Member Faria seconded. Vote – Unanimous.
