**Who and How Selected?

The Committee’s task is to accomplish the following:

v      Review the Exeter High School Mission Statement – Does it need updating as we prepare to move into the new building?

v      Investigate Best Practices of other High Schools (NH and National) and make recommendations for implementation

v      Investigate various methods of setting up the new high school building (Traditional Departmental set-up, Smaller Learning Communities, Schools within a school etc.)  Research the positives and negatives of each configuration and make a recommendation to the Board

v      Develop timelines for 06-07 and beyond

v      Celebrate the “firsts” and “lasts”

The Committee may set up subcommittees (e.g. Student management Options, Physical Move, Maintenance, Busing, Sped Issues, Impact on Handbook) to concentrate on separate parts of this task and may appoint additional members (Specialists such as Guidance Counselors, Nurses) as deemed necessary to these subcommittees.

It is anticipated that speakers may be brought in to educate the committee on various programs and alternatives.  These presentations will be open to the public and appropriate notice to the communities should be made.

All meetings of the committee will be posted and open to the public.  Minutes of the meetings will be posted on the SAU 16 website.  First meeting 8/31, location & time TBA.

The Committee is to make a report including recommendations to the full Board by the fourth week in January at a Special Board Meeting.
