Special Exeter Region Cooperative School Board Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, November 29, 2006 – 7:00 PM

CMS – Media Center 

 

Present: Greg Kann, Lucy Cushman, Kim Casey, Robin Scott, Kris Magnusson, Sally Oxnard,
 Townley Chisholm and Patty Lovejoy

 

Absent: Ray Trueman

 

Administration: Arthur Hanson, Tom O’Malley, Jerry Frew, Bill Perkins, John LeSage, Tony Baldasaro,
            Andy Littlefield

 

 

1.0        CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Chair Kann called the meeting to order at
7:03 PM.

 

2.0               VIDEO CONFERENCE WITH NWEA

Mr. Baldasaro, who moderated the meeting, gave an overview of how CMS uses the NWEA data. John Cronin and Cindy Diddy, NWEA representatives, reviewed the components of the Virtual Comparison Groups and illustrated this with CMS data.

 

Mr. Baldasaro asked the NWEA representatives a variety of questions submitted by the board and board members queried the representatives with follow-up questions.

 

At 8:03 PM, the conference with the NWEA representatives concluded.

 

The board discussed “Key Points” of the conference and some of the points are listed below:

 

·         Some of the test results “leap out” as needing additional follow-up, i.e., 6^th grade math, 8^th grade reading, etc.

·         Be certain to use all data and recommendations from administration

·         Celebration activities after the NWEA Testing and to celebrate by teams

·         Plan to appropriately educate “underplaced” students

·         When to test, i.e. “fall to spring” or “spring to spring”

·         Target scores – what comparison to use, Virtual Group or national norms

 

3.0              ADJOURNMENT: On a motion from Ms. Cushman, seconded by Ms. Casey and unanimously voted with no discussion to adjourn at 8:43 PM.
