ERCSD Facilities Committee Meeting

MEMBERS PRESENT:     Lucy Cushman, Kim Casey, Sally Oxnard and Ray Trueman

 

ADMINISTRATION PRESENT:      Arthur Hanson and Walter Pierce

 

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS:          Patty Lovejoy, Roy Morrisette and Greg Kann

 

Chair Cushman opened the meeting at 6:00 PM.  The following agenda items were discussed and/or acted on by the committee.

 

1.        Kensington Property: Walter reviewed the history of the Kensington fields – the purchase and the negotiations with Rockland Trust and Kensington Conservation Commission.

 

2.        Linden Street Property: Walter reviewed the purchase of the Linden Street property – the “buyout” from the Exeter School District.  Of the total purchase price, $5,551,000 was contributed by the State of NH and $7,000,000 by the six towns of the Cooperative District.  The last payment is due in September 2006.

 

Walter also commented that with all the publicity about the Annex recently, he still hasn’t had any more inquiries about purchasing the property.

 

3.        EHS Furniture Budget: The committee reviewed the furniture budget, which has gone out to bid.  Walter feels that we have budgeted more than enough money for “moveable furniture”.  He provided a detailed description of the casework, etc., included in the GMP as opposed to the $1,442,559, which is a separate furniture and equipment budget.

 

The bids for furniture and equipment are due next Tuesday, February 7, 2006.  After some discussion, we agreed that if the numbers hold up and we have extra money in that budget, we will recommend amending the $675,000 warranty article.  The $200,000 needed for the students gathering area would then be funded out of the furniture budget.  Motion by Sally Oxnard, seconded by Kim Casey and committee voted 4-0 to recommend to the board that WA #5 (Shall the District raise and appropriate the sum of the amount of the June 30, 2006 undesignated fund balance (surplus) up to $675,000 for costs associated with the completion of the New Exeter High School?) be amended to read $475,000.
