ERCSD Facilities Committee Meeting

February 14, 2006 - 6:00 PM

Cooperative Middle School - Library

MEMBERS PRESENT:      Lucy Cushman, Kim Casey, Sally Oxnard and Ray Trueman

ADMINISTRATION PRESENT:      Arthur Hanson, Dick Wendell and Walter Pierce

OTHER BOARD MEMBERS:          Patty Lovejoy and Roy Morrisette

Chair Cushman opened the meeting at 6:12 PM.  The following agenda items were discussed and/or acted on by the committee.

1.        New High School Electrical Work: Walter reviewed the electrical work necessary to power the score board, field lights, etc.

2.        Amended Squamscott Community Commons Warrant Article: There was a general discussion of the amended SCC warrant article – that is how we would word the request for our appraisal.  Emphasized the need to keep a demolition quote separate from our appraisal.  Chair will ask SCC to clarify whether their intention is to demolish or renovate as there is some confusion in that point.  Dick Wendell noted there is asbestos in floor tiles and pipe fittings – both of which are safe until disturbed.

Also talked about the pros and cons of an appraisal/offer that does not meet current zoning and the time table that would evolve while an interested party seeks zoning changes and planning board approval.

3.        Change Order #6: Walter presented Change Order #6 for $29,675.38 (see Attachment #1-pdf).  This change order includes credits as well as debits.  Changes include those required by inspection (due to code changes), the trees planted on the berm along Old Town Farm Road, electricity for maintenance building being built by SST and turf prep for the inner courtyard.  After discussion and explanation, on a motion by Sally Oxnard, seconded by Kim Casey and committee voted 4-0 to recommend Change Order #6 to the full board for approval.

4.        Channel 22 Update: We also talked about an update of the new high school for Channel 22, or possibly a video narrated, rather than the still pictures.  The subcommittee decided to offer a bus tour to the public if there is enough interest.  Interest citizens should contact Sally Boyd at the SAU Office 775-8654.

Meeting adjourned at 6:50 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Lucy Cushman, Chair
