ERCSD Communications Committee Meeting

1. CMS/Parent Survey: The following items were
discussed:
- A review of the Parent
Survey developed by California State University that was given to SAU 16 parents in 2004-2005
- The superintendent will
contact the UNH Survey Center to see if they can attend the January 22, 2008
committee meeting
2. PowerSchool / Parent Portal: The following items
were discussed:
- Mr. Sokul announced that
EHS would commence with the Parent Portal on December 17, 2007
- Lots of discussion
regarding the readiness of the CMS/EHS staff regarding the use of the
Parent Portal
- Mr. O’Malley explained that
all teachers are using Power Grade Book at CMS and that once information
is put into the Power Grade Book, the Parent Portal is ready to be opened
- Mr. O’Malley reported that
CMS is ready to go with the Parent Portal and a discussion followed as to
whether it is the board or the administration who makes the decision as to
when Parent Portal begins at CMS (Superintendent has instructed Mr.
O’Malley to come up with a date to open Parent Portal and inform the
board).
3. 2007-2008 School Board Goals - deferred
4. Electronics Communications Policy: Mr. Sokul and
Mr. O’Malley discussed the following:
- Electronic devices are
allowed in each of the schools
- Does not appear that this
privilege is being used in the classroom
- More supervision of these
devices is needed in between classes at EHS
- Most cell phones do not
work inside CMS
5. MRSA Skin Infection Plan
- MRSA (methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus)
- Dr. Oxnard and
Superintendent Hanson talked about the staff bacteria and some of the
precautions that have already occurred in the schools
- The superintendent is going
to convene a committee to present recommendations to the SAU Policy
Committee
