Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes

January 22, 2008 – SAU 16 Conference Room

7:35 PM

 

Board:    Lucy Cushman, Tomasen Carey, Sally Oxnard, Townley Chisholm, Barbara RigordaEva, Kim Casey and Kris Magnusson

 

Administration:     Arthur Hanson, Victor Sokul, Tom O’Malley, Tony Baldasaro, Bill Perkins

 

 

After Dr. Smith’s departure, Mr. Sokul issued a draft attendance policy, absent and tardy reports of the 2^nd and 3^rd quarter of last year and explained the genesis of the reason for revising the policy.  Discussion ensued with the following salient points:

 

a.       Explanation of 4^th quarter grades and the relationship to attendance

b.      SRO, SAP, Social Worker, Guidance and administration all, to varying degrees, get involved with attendance issues

c.       Send to board in their packets and ask feedback from them at the next meeting

d.      Accommodations for attendance/tardies are always made for students with extenuating circumstances

 

It was agreed to place the draft policy in the board packets and to discuss with the full board.

 

Tony Baldasaro discussed the CMS “Good to Great” school initiative:

a.       Fourteen (14) diverse faculty members participating with the committee

b.      CMS Curriculum Blog will have updates of the committee’s work

c.       Committee currently identifying components of “great” schools, not about any particular program

d.      Will issue updates to the board
