ERCSD Curriculum Committee Meeting
April 8, 2008 – 7:30 PM

Meeting began at 8:00 PM.
1. Family & Consumer Curriculum Report – Jerry Frew: Jerry Frew, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Assessment, started his report by recognizing the CMS faculty for their support for students. He gave an overview of the work that the thirteen (13) committee members did with the Family and Consumer and Technology Education Report.

2. EHS Youth at Risk Survey – Victor Sokul: The Youth at Risk Survey was distributed to the board members and Mr. Sokul gave an explanation of the survey instrument. The following represents the analysis and initiatives that are taking place due to the survey results:
The question was asked if we were doing a similar survey at CMS, and at this time, we are not. Mr. O’Malley will research if there is a similar survey that could be administered to middle school students. Also, Mr. O’Malley indicated he would be in favor of a School Resource Officer.
3. NWEA Testing: The superintendent noted that Tony Baldasaro and Cindy Freyberger are working together to present NWEA information to the board at its April 22nd meeting. A long discussion ensued regarding whether the NWEA is administered twice a year or once a year. Superintendent asked that the board make a decision on this as soon as possible.
4. From the Floor: In reference to a question that was asked regarding energy conversation, Chair Trueman noted that recycling will be on the April 22nd agenda.
