To see entire photo on screen:
- View Menu --> Display Options – Fit images to
window
- % size of picture show in status line at
bottom of window
- Can zoom in and out to work on picture –
view % as you zoom – use View menu --> zoom in / zoom out or use magnifying
glass icons
Save a copy of picture before you work on it
You can always undo an action if you don’t like
the results
To rotate a picture (if camera was held
sideways):
- Image menu --> rotate left / rotate right
To view information on picture:
- Image menu --> information (or use
i icon)
To Crop a Picture:
- select section you want to keep by clicking
and dragging a box
- Edit menu --> Crop selection
To make picture larger / smaller:
- Image menu --> Resize/Resample
- Set new size in pixels or inches OR set new
size as percent of original
- Make sure you have “Preserve Aspect Ratio”
checked
- Resample (better than resize) – use default
filter
- Better results reducing size than enlarging
To adjust brightness / contrast / colors in
photograph:
- Image menu --> Enhance Colors
- Preview picture as you adjust to see what
you get
To sharpen photograph – takes fuzzy look away,
especially after resize
To add text to a picture:
- Draw box on photo where you want to put text
- Edit menu --> Insert text into selection
- Choose font
- Type text
- Select “Text is transparent” to have text
directly on photo – deselect to create a box that will display text
Saving file as different format –
- best to use JPG for photographs - only gif and jpg work on websites
- File menu --> Save As
Cool feature: CAPTURE (Options menu -->
Capture) saves whatever you see on computer screen in a file – Great for
documentation or to send to Tech. Support
Note – You can work with any/all menu options
available in the program to see the effects. Most of these features are
available in any photographic program like PaintShopPro, PhotoShop, PictureIt,
PhotoPlus, etc.
