If you have not already done so, request a home page from your tech.
coordinator. They will provide you with a page address, a password and whatever
assistance you need.
Step 1: Display your home page.
Use the web address that you received and display your new page in an
internet browser. Scroll down to
the bottom right of the page and click on the blue wrench
.
Step 2: Enter your password
A new screen will appear. Enter the password you were given into the text box
and press the <go> button. The edit page will appear.
Step 3: Change your password
It is important that you use a password that no one can guess to access your
webpage. It is important that you change it immediately before you put work into
creating your website.
To change your password, scroll down to the bottom of the edit page.
There is a box for "New Password?". Enter your new password and
below it press <Update Page>.
Step 4: Enter content into your webpage
The Page Title appears at the top of all pages - it is basically the same as
your website name. Then there are three sections for each page. Each section has
a section heading - the first section heading is labelled Page sub-heading. You
can use all three sections or only one or two of them. They provide a way
to break up the content on your page into sections with separate headings.
Step 5: Update your changes
Scroll to the bottom of the edit page and press <Update page> button. You can
continue to make changes and update the changes.
Step 6: View the results
Now you should view the results by clicking on the magnifying glass icon
at the bottom of the page. You will see your page just as
it appears on the Internet. This step allows you to correct anything that needs
changing. To return to the edit screen just click on the blue wrench again. You
can continue to make changes, update page, view page until you get your website
to look like you want - just don't forget to press <update page> after making
changes before you view the page!
Step 7: Link from School Website
Contact your Technology Coordinator to create a link on the school's website
to your page. You will then have a live webpage! Any changes you make to
your webpage now will immediately be displayed on the internet - changes are
instantaneous. If the updates do not display immediately, press Refresh
(usually <F5> on your browser.
Congratulations! You are now officially a webpage author and you are ready to
make changes and add additional pages, whenever you like and from any computer
that has internet access.
