| Staff or faculty members posting content directly to the school websites using
access granted by the technology staff will be individually responsible for
complying with these guidelines.
In order to provide accuracy, consistency, continuity and clarity on our
school district websites, each site must adhere to the following:
- contact information of author/webmaster
- no photographs where a student is identifiable without parent/guardian
permission
- students first names only are to be used
- adherence to copyright / fair use rules - see
guidelines (.pdf)
- no links to outside (not hosted by SAU 16 contracts or services)
websites unless we have editorial control
- no commercial advertisements
Subject Matter
- All subject matter should relate to curriculum, instruction,
school-authorized activities or general information that is appropriate to the
school community.
- No personal web pages may be published, nor shall there be any links to
personal web pages.
- No last names of students can be used - first names only.
- Photographs of students are not permitted without parent/guardian permission.
Editorial Policy
- All Web page work must be free of spelling and grammatical errors.
- Web pages may not contain objectionable material or link to objectionable
material.
- Materials used on the school web pages must conform to copyright and
intellectual property laws. (If in doubt, see
guidelines.pdf). When posting
copyrighted material, the source must be cited and permission granted.
Unacceptable content includes:
- Any material intended for business or to generate personal financial gain.
- Material that may be deemed inappropriate as judged by the
Administration.
- Information that could knowingly cause damage, danger or disruption.
- Any information that violates school policies, software licensing agreements,
contractual agreements, copyright, or any local, state or federal law.
- Information that could be used to compromise the security or availability of
school resources.
- Anything that provides information about how to commit any criminal or
illegal act.
- Any misleading labeling of material or links.
- Any political lobbying.
- Commercial advertising.
- Any hidden links.
